A Busy Family

September 10th, 2008 by thelammles

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but we are one busy household.

In August, we made a trip up to Chicago to see our friends Soniya and Erick get married in a traditional Hindu ceremony.  It was quite a fascinating experience.  It’s not every day that you see someone riding a horse in downtown Chicago…

While in the Windy City, we were finally able to visit Great Grandpa AJ Schumacher at his home in Rolling Meadows.  Harper and AJ got to see one another for the better part of a morning and even had some fun playing AJ’s snare drum.  A good time was had by all.

Shortly after we got back from Chicago, Andrea started going to a “stroller exercise” class run by a local group called The Mommy Movement.  So far she’s made friends with a few fellow stay-at-home moms and getting in better shape all at the same time.  It’s a win-win situation for her.

As for me, I had an article published on mentalfloss.com, the online presence for a major nationwide magazine, which was a pretty big hit on the internet.  In less than a week it had about 150,000 hits and was picked up by a few other websites as well.  It sounds like my freelance relationship with them is going to continue, so not only am I bringing in a little extra cash, but I’m building my writing resume as well. Again, a win-win situation.

This past weekend we went home to visit the family in Fisher, which included a wonderful visit with great grandparents, Granny and Pop, as well as with all the cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents a trip like that entails. It was good to see everyone again and get to spend some time with them.

As for the star of our little show, Harper is growing up so fast it’s hard to believe. She’s now crawling so much we can barely contain her. She pulls herself up on anything that gets in her path and can even stand without using her hands for brief periods - I’m sure she’ll be walking in no time. She’s begun babbling “mama” and “dada” and there’s no denying that sometimes she’s even addressing us directly. She shrieks with joy whenever an animal is near, usually resulting in them running as far away from her as they can get. Her hair is growing in a very light blond - so light you can barely see it. She’s been in the infant swings at the playground twice now and has been laughing the whole time. All this and still no teeth.

So, yes, we have been a very busy family. But the changes we’ve been making are exciting, fun, and will hopefully lead to some great things for all of us in the very near future.

As per usual, there are VIP photos for you to see. So head up to the top of the page and click on the link to get inside. Enjoy and check back in with us soon!
